Why Moontonia?

Basic info
Our name "Moontonia" references the first state we founded, Ragrad. This state is a 10 foot by 10 foot land claim on the moon. 

States of Moontonia


Ragrad

​The first state is Ragrad, named after Ra, the sun god. Ragrad is an uninhabited 10-foot by 10-foot land on the moon.
​This state is run by the Commander of Religion and Sciences Montana Knight. Ragrad is the smallest state in Moontonia.

GRÜNLANDSTADt

The second state is the state of Grünlandstadt, which translates into "Grassland City" from German. The state is run by the Supreme Governor Matthew Lucy.

Shauzerstan

​The third state is Schnauzerstan. Run by the Supreme Grand General of the Armed Forces Benjamin Franklin Ellis IV The Clairvoyant. Schnauzerstan is named after Lord Louie and Lady Lacy Ellis, two of the original inhabitants of the state. Schnauzerstan is also the only Moontonian State to have an enclave. 

MOONVIA

The fourth state that was added is Moonvia. This is the capital of Moontonia, and is run by the Supreme Leader, and also where his residence is. 

BENTONIA

The next state is Bentonia. Founded on 3/7/21 it is the 2nd largest state in Moontonia. The state is run by Brigadier General of the Border Guard Elwood Sheflin.

MOONCASTLE

The last state is Mooncastle. It claims Old Central VPA High School in Saint Louis Missouri. This state is run by  the Commander of Security Thatcher Gilbertson. Mooncastle is an impenetrable fortress, and is where the Supreme Leader and his cabinet would retreat to if Moontonia were to face annihilation. 
​Moontonia is a sovereign independent micronation. Our currency is the "Moon Ruble", a currency where =R= 1 is tied to the price of 1 Arizona Iced Tea. There are 99 Moontonian Cents in 1 Moon Ruble

calendar

Moontonia uses a different calendar than the Gregorian calendar. We use the Moontonian Calendar. This calendar has 13 months, 28 days in each month, with a day at the end and leap day at the end (for leap years) in order to bring the total of days to 365 or 366 respectively. You can see below our complete calendar and how to calculate the date accordingly.
However, Moontonia's year is also different, based around the invention of the wheel. So take the Gregorian year and add 3,500 to get the Moontonian year.
